We can help with:
Couples & relationship conflicts
Couples’ therapy can help resolve a wide range of problems in all types of romantic relationships. Repetitive arguing, violations of the boundaries of the relationship, and feeling constantly unheard or misunderstood can all be assisted by the experienced and sensitive staff of the TSC. (more...) Erectile disorder Sometimes, there is a clear medical issue—prostate cancer, diabetes, or medications with side effects—directly interfering with erectile function. Sometimes, there is a clear psychological issue—trauma, relationship conflict, or chronic stress—that makes penile response unreliable. In real life, more than one thing is going on. Likewise, the best solution is sometimes a pill such as Viagra (sildenafil), sometimes sex therapy, and sometimes a combination. (more...) Gender dysphoria & transition support For some people, there's no question. They never fit the role they were born into, no one was surprised when they told them, and they live happily and naturally in their new role. TSC psychologists are highly trained and experienced in providing services to people age 18+ undergoing or considering sex/gender transition. This includes helping people decide if transition is right for them and writing letters of support to endocrinologists and surgeons. (more...) |
Sex addiction / Hypersexuality
Many experts (and the media) debate whether there is such a thing as "sex addiction," but there is no doubt that there are people who experience distress about out-of-control sex drives. Dr. James Cantor, TSC Director, has conducted extensive scientific research, finding there are distinct types of this problem, each best treated in different ways. (more...) Premature ejaculation All men sometimes ejaculate before they want to. When it happens most or all of the time, it can interfere with their enjoyment. Research has shown ejaculation control exercises to be extremely effective in treating the problem. There are also some medications that can be very effective, and the combination can be the most effective of all. (more...) Polyamory & open relationship issues Poly- relationships are just like other relationships: They require good, on-going communication, self-awareness, and compromise. Yet, they can be troubled by the same emotions as in traditional two-person relationships—insecurity, inattention to others’ needs, and dishonesty with oneself about one’s own needs. Because poly- relationships are often more complicated than traditional ones, they require better-than-average communication and greater-than-average self-awareness. (more...) |
Other issues include:
- Infidelity
- Sexual pain problems
- Exploring BDSM, kink, and atypical sexualities
- Confronting potentially harmful sexual urges
- Low or lack of sexual desire
- Understanding transgender spouses & family members
